I'm not entirely sure why I took this shot, since I despise wearing makeup, but I think it's an interesting rout to take for the future self portraiture assignment.

It was wasn't until after the shot did I notice the warning labels...

how freudian of me.

This one is part of an independent study project I did last year... the entire window frame looked like a shrine of my face. It was ghastly. However I do like the way some individual shots came out.

New, old, whatever....

So these are some more images I took today for the Shutter Speed assignment, others are things I've had lying around. I seem to be finding items, or even zones that I like shooting. inanimate objects are pretty appealing these days... probably because they do what I say and don't complain. For anyone who knows my photography will know I love my bed, and can most likely find hiding somewhere in the frame. The other thing I shoot is Kim. She is my muse, and my best friend, and quite possibly the only person who would let me put ketchup on them... I promise, that is photo related :)

These two are a couple of the earliest shoots I did with Kim. I went through a phase where I didn't like incorporating faces.

These were a reconstruction of an accidental crime scene shoot I did of myself last year during a self portraiture block. Kristen knows what I'm talking about. So does Mrs. O

Shutter Speed

Shutter speed controls the amount of light let in. A short shutter is used for bright environments and crisp images and a longer shutter for darker environments/objects in motion.

I guess I could probably say more about this topic, but I have to go shoot this role before I can post anything, so ciao bellas!

Oh yes, and a fairly minor detail....

Shallow depth of field = low f-stop (one thing in focus)
Deep depth of field = high f-stop (everything in focus)


Minor detail, hardly worth mentioning....

Aperture

Three things I learned from this assignment:

IGNORE THE LIGHT METER ON MY CAMERA. IT LIES LIKE A POLITICIAN.

The shutter speed and aperture are attached at the hip; whenever one changes, so does the other. If the aperture goes up, the shutter speed must go down because the aperture controls depth of field, determining how much light is let it, and the shutter speed has to correlate with this to avoid over/under exposure.

ISO is uber helpful, and saves me from excessive freak out about why the image is to dark.
